We try very hard to practice a relational ethos in all areas of our work. This applies as much to our creative practices in place as it does our research and learning. If you’re a researcher seeking participation in your research project, please read our guidance for researchers before getting in touch, so that you can see if we are a good fit.

201a High Street, Dudley DY1 1QQ

In early 2020 we transformed an empty shop on Dudley High Street into a dedicated experimentation and exhibition space. We’ve since embarked on Time Rebel missions with local creatives to unlock collective imagination in communities and rehearse flourishing futures. We’ve worked with architecture and design students to develop visions and plans for Dudley High Street in 2030, and ideas for a Regenerative High Street. Activities we host in the lab are completely free and open to people of all backgrounds and ages (children must bring a grown up). If you live, work, learn or play in Dudley borough, or are simply curious about what is going on, please do join us.

We have an open invitation to curious local people to explore the High Street, connect with stories and artefacts from Dudley's past, present and futures and prototype experiments which bring us closer to flourishing futures.

We host Seasonal Gatherings which are open to all. They feature work and learning from projects taking place across Dudley borough which invite nature (re)connection, new relationships in place, climate action and explorations of systemic challenges. ****

We curate temporary exhibitions in the lap space, always utilising our window gallery to showcase work and activity from projects we’re supporting and communities we’re collaborating with.

Why isn’t the lab space open all of the time / more of the time? Because we’re a social lab, not a public space, gallery or community building. Staffing to be open every day would cost tens of thousands of pounds each year. Our funding is invested directly in work with communities across Dudley borough. The lab space is used and cared for by the CoLab Dudley team and our network of local collaborators.

Our team and collaborators publish Lab Notes in our **publication on Medium.**
Some are deep dives into our learning, others are round ups of our work.
We’ve been sharing on creative projects designed by local people as part of Dudley Creates (our 100 Year Cultural Strategy in Action) on an Instagram account @CoLab Dudley
Our occasional newsletter, CommonPlace features explorations, stories, art, collective imaginings and sharing of place-based and ecological knowledge from our work and networks in Dudley. Sign up here
